He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were [our] faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. – Isaiah 53:3

One of the greatest fears people suffer with is the fear of rejection.

Many people have ascribed the acronym for fear as “False Evidence Appearing Real”. While I understand where they get that from…I don’t believe it is completely accurate. Let’s just be candid with the reality of how we all feel at times.

Fear is simply anticipation of pain. We fear something because we know that in some way that experience will bring with it a level of pain – either physical or emotional pain.

Consequently, we avoid anything that has the potential of pain attached to it. One of the areas that causes the most emotional pain is the fear of rejection.

We are so afraid of being rejected by people because of how we look or how we feel about a certain issue in life. Hence, to avoid that pain, we cower in the fear of staying silent about what we think.

We shy away from interacting with people even though that interaction may bring the potential of an opportunity to grow in life. Why do we do it? Because we fear the pain of rejection!

Dear beloved, my challenge to you today is simple: Jesus has already borne that fear of rejection for you! Read today’s passage from Isaiah over and over until it sinks deeply into your soul.

Give that fear of rejection to the One Who suffered rejection like no other human even has. Jesus suffered rejection on every single level…He did simply because He loves you! Give Him your rejection today…He has already borne it so there is no reason for you to continue to bear it as well!

Prayer Point: In Jesus’ I cannot not be rejected. Amen
