“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.” – Hebrews 4:9 (KJV)

There can be no truth without the Holy Bible. Anything the Holy Bible addresses is coming from the heart of the Almighty God, so let us not downplay His written Word.

If the opening scripture says there remains a rest to the people of God, believe it and meditate on it as a child of God.

During your meditation, ask God what He means by rest for His people. Some call this rest a Sabbath rest; the Sabbath was a day set aside by God for the Israelites to cease from all their work in order to relax, refresh their bodies, and worship God (Exodus 20:8–11).

It is true that the rest in the opening scripture refers to heaven, where the righteous souls go to after departing from the earth through death (Revelation 21:4).

However, Christians can have rest in Christ Jesus while on the earth; it is a place in Christ Jesus designed for the spiritually mature, where you literally don’t struggle in life for food, shelter, clothing, a job, marriage, peace, joy, money, living a holy life, etc., because God has enabled you to have them.

Treasured, we enter this rest when we follow Jesus Christ closely and serve and live in obedience to Him (John 15:7). Hallelujah! Enter His rest!

Prayer Point: Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your Word. Please enable me and lead me to your rest on the earth even before enjoying your greater rest in heaven, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
