You Can Be Righteous

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. Pro 11:30 (KJV)

The righteous is the man who is justified by God. Such a man stands before God without guilt or any feeling of condemnation. In Christ, we are made the righteousness of God. This is why Romans 8 says “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus…” (Rom 8:1). The reason is because we are made right with God. We are at peace with God (Rom 5:1).

Our righteousness in Christ however has fruits. Fruits means results. And our opening text clarifies that the fruit of the righteous is the tree of life. The tree of life is a tree that produces twelve kinds of fruits and its leaves are for the healing of the nation’s (Rev 22:2). When you eat of the fruit of life, your spiritual state becomes permanent. This is why God had to sack man from the garden after the fall.

Genesis 3:22 states “And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever.” If Adam and Eve had eaten of the tree of life, they would have been permanently fallen without hope of redemption. But glory to God! The fruit of our righteousness is the tree of life. Hallelujah!
