“And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.” – Matthew 26:21 (KJV)

Today marks the Friday. Good Friday is celebrated in memory of Christ’s Passion, crucifixion, and death. The most important Good Friday symbol is the crucifix, or cross, which represents the way in which Jesus died. Before he died, betrayal cannot be opted out among the very disciples he picked, trained, and empowered.

Jesus Christ loved His disciples during His ministry on earth. He was transparent with them and shared everything with them. He ate with them, prayed with them, and went to preach with them. It would have been unthinkable that anyone would betray Jesus Christ. The disciples were even shocked when He told them that one of them would betray Him. However, prophecy must be fulfilled that Jesus must be betrayed into the hands of sinners and condemned to death (Psalm 41:9). Even though this was a prophecy, Judas Iscariot allowed Satan to use him into fulfilling that prophecy.

Dear beloved, would you have betrayed Jesus Christ? The answer to this question will be in the negative for every Christian who is asked. However, some born again Christians betray Jesus Christ in a way without knowing that they are betraying Him. Being ashamed of letting the world know that you are a Christian is a form of betrayal. Refusing to share the gospel with people and citing many excuses is a form of betrayal (Matthew 10:32–33).

Living a hypocritical life and following the lifestyle of the world are forms of betraying Christ. Thus, as born-again Christians let us follow Jesus Christ and live-in obedience to Him. Our words, actions, and reactions should portray Jesus Christ, and He will be happy to testify for us before God. Hallelujah! Be loyal to Christ on this year’s Esther!

Prayer Point: My righteous Father, I delight myself in Your Word, for it is my life. I promise to stay loyal to You in words, actions, and reactions. I vow never to betray Jesus Christ in any form. Please empower me to always keep this vow even in difficult times. Amen!
