“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” – Proverbs 9:10 (KJV)
Understanding is the capacity to apprehend general relations of particulars, while wisdom is the right application of knowledge. In other words, before you can apply knowledge in the right way, you need to first understand how to use it.
Beloved, the fear mentioned in the opening scripture is the reverential fear of God; it is expressed in acknowledging God in worship and giving Him prompt obedience (John 4:23–24). Before we can understand the fear of God, we need to receive revelational knowledge from the Holy Scriptures (Proverbs 2:1–5).
Beloved, after we have received this knowledge, we gain understanding; when we apply this knowledge to worship God and to carry out His will, the wisdom of God begins to operate in our life. When we continue in worship and obedience without complaining and grumbling, then we begin to mature in the wisdom of God.
Dear beloved, strive to get the wisdom and understanding of God through the exercise of the Holy Scriptures so that you can grow to maturity. Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!
Prayer Point: My Father and my God, thank You for teaching me about wisdom and understanding. Please lead and guide me through the Holy Scriptures, to understand them and apply them to gain more wisdom and experience to impact the lives of many.
