“Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?” – 1 Corinthians 1:20 (KJV)
Belonging to God’s family is the best place to be. The Most High God is a social being, so He loves creating families to fellowship with (Ephesians 3:14–15).
The gospel is a means through which God is creating a holy family unto Himself. Any person who wants to belong to this family must believe in Jesus Christ and confess Him as Lord and personal Savior over their lives (Romans 10:9–10). Anyone who regards themselves as wise, a scribe, or a disputer, will miss this opportunity because spiritual things are spiritually discerned.
The person who is wise in their own eyes will consider the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ as foolish. The scribe thinks they are too learned to accept that Jesus Christ is indeed the Messiah. The disputer, on the other hand, says there are so many ways to Father and heaven, thus rejects the truth that Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father and heaven (John 14:6).
Dear beloved, where do you belong? God’s desire for every human being is to be saved through the preaching of the gospel. He doesn’t want any human being to perish in hell, so the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is still being preached (2 Peter 3:9).
Beloved, if you are not born again, seize the opportunity to understand the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and believe in Him to be saved. If you are saved, however, then share the good news with others so that they can believe and become part of the family of God. God is good and it is a good thing to belong to His special family (1 Peter 2:9–10). Hallelujah! You are welcome!
Prayer Point: Dear heavenly Father, thank You for making me a member of Your family. I pray for anyone who is categorized as wise, a scribe, and a disputer, to put away pride, understand the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, believe in Him, and confess Him as Lord and personal Savior and be saved to the glory of the Father. Amen!
