“As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.” 1 Timothy 1:3–4 (KJV)
Whatever we give attention to has a tendency to influence us either toward godliness or ungodliness. Sticking to the true doctrine or teaching of Christ Jesus establishes us in the Kingdom of God. It also leads to spiritual growth and maturity. However, the enemy doesn’t like us to grow, so he propagates false doctrines, such as fables (senseless stories) and genealogies (endless lists of ancestors), hoping to plant doubts on our minds to abandon the truth. Once we abandon the truth, he succeeds by sending us in the wrong direction, thereby making us unproductive for God.
Dear beloved, let us be aware and test every doctrine or teaching with the Holy Scriptures before we practice them (1 John 4:1). Get your own Bible and meditate on the Word, and you will be grounded in the truth, thereby identifying and rejecting false teachings. Hallelujah!
Prayer Point: Dear Holy Spirit, please lead me to meditate on your Word, and ground me in your truth. Amen!
Father lord please help me to meditate on your word and be firmly grounded in it. Amen
