“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” – Matthew 5:44 (KJV)
Knowing that your human enemies have a role to play in your life keeps you away from worrying about them. The Almighty God has an important role for our human enemies in our lives , and that is why He gives them life. There are four kinds of enemies described in the opening scripture.
The first are enemies who curse us. The second are enemies who hate us. The third are enemies who despitefully use us. The fourth are enemies who persecute us. Dear beloved, you will surely encounter any of these enemies in your life, and you have to apply the keys given by Jesus Christ.
The first key to apply is love; we must love them. Loving them with the love of Christ Jesus will enable us to use the other keys of blessing, doing good, and praying. Beloved, blessing your enemies, doing good to them, and praying for them makes you a child of God because God provides for the unthankful and evil people (Luke 6:35).
Doing good to your enemies helps to shape your character; it helps you to even do more for your loved ones because you’ve been able to bless your enemies. It also enhances your prayer life. No wonder Jesus Christ stopped His disciples from calling down fire from heaven to burn their enemies (Luke 9:54–56).
Remember that your human enemies also need salvation, and treating them well can stir their hearts to repentance. Let us learn to live wisely with our human enemies, and God will use us to dumbfound them. Hallelujah! You are an overcomer!
Prayer Point: Dear heavenly Father, thank you for the lives of my human enemies. Please give me more grace and wisdom to be able to love them, bless them, do them good, and pray for them, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
