“And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” – Matthew 4:18-19
Your destiny in life is tied to something that is already within you.
I love the fact that when Jesus calls Simon and Andrew, He ties their destiny as disciples to what they are already doing. They are fisherman by trade; it is their natural talent by which they made their living.
Therefore, when Jesus calls them, He simply tells them that He is going to use their natural inclination of fishing, but just in a different way. He basically tells them, “You are used to fishing so I am going to continue to have you fish; except it is going to be for men this time!”
God has gifted you in certain areas of life. it is in those areas of your gifting that your destiny lies. You don’t need to go out and try to develop gifts and talents that are unnatural for you in order to find your destiny.
The seeds of your destiny are already with you; they are your natural gifts and abilities. Chase after those gifts by developing them and becoming better in them. By chasing those gifts…you will eventually arrive at your destiny!
