“Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.” – Proverbs 22:15 (KJV)

The God we serve is a disciplinarian. He uses the rod of correction on His children (Hebrews 12:7–8). Beloved, any material which has been prepared for the correction of the children of God is called the rod of correction. It is a special kind of rod God has assigned for the training of His children; it drives away foolishness from the heart of the child. Examples of such rods are stick, cane, denying the child of certain privileges, rebuking, etc. However, because of the abuse of such rods of correction, many countries have banned the use of these rods. This has led to the growth of stubbornness in the heart of children of such countries. Consequently, these children have become rebellious, disobedient, cold-hearted, and mean toward people in society.

Dear parents and guardians, let the Word of God guide you to prepare a rod of correction and use it wisely to correct your children while applying other forms of corrective measures (2 Timothy 3:16–17). And your children will become wise, disciplined, and useful to society. Praise the Lord! Be an overcomer!

Prayer Point: Dear heavenly Father, thank You for educating me on how to prepare a rod of correction to train my children. Please lead me to apply wisdom in disciplining my children, explaining to them the reason for taking certain actions in their training and upbringing; causing them to understand and submit to discipline in Jesus’ name. Amen!
