“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” – John 13:34 (KJV)

Jesus Christ is a good God. He is always looking for an opportunity to make things better for us. When He knew that the Old Testament laws were not effective, He fulfilled them Himself and gave us a new commandment (Ephesians 2:15). This time, it is a commandment of love; He wants us to serve Him out of love and not out of compulsion. It is not just any kind of love but the same love He had for us.

Beloved, His love is a sacrificial love; He loved us to the extent of sacrificing His life for us (Matthew 20:28, John 19:30). Therefore, we are also expected to love Him and our brethren to the extent of sacrificing our lives for Him and our brethren.

Beloved, a sacrificial love attracts greater rewards from the Father. No wonder Jesus was given a name above every name after sacrificing His life for us (Philippians 2:9–11). Let us learn to do the same for Him and our fellow brethren so that we can receive greater rewards from God. Hallelujah! God bless you!

Prayer Point: My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, thank You for showing me what true love is, and how to express it. I promise to love You, serve You, and love my brethren and fellow human beings so that they can experience Your sacrificial love and draw closer to You. Amen!
