“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.” – Psalm 121:1
Life is unpredictable. We have seen that in the first half of this year of 2020. Things have turned out in a way that no one expected them to and we are still waiting to see what unexpected thing is coming next. But amid the unexpected events of life – there is something we know will always be there.
We have this confidence that any moment when things around us seem overwhelming, all we must do is look up. Look up and realize that the help and hope of my life doesn’t rest in what is around me; it rests in Who is above me.
It is too easy for us to get bogged down with what is around us. We get emotionally drawn into the latest calamity on the evening news or the latest scandal on social media. Before longing, our life has been derailed by events and by people that really have no business making the impact on us, they are making. It is in those moments that we need to stop looking around us and start looking upward.
Start looking to the hills and realize that the Creator of those hills is right where He has always been waiting on us to ask Him for His help. So, what about you? Are you so taken up by what is happening around you that you have forgotten to look up lately? Turn off the news and open your Bible.
Stop scrolling through the social media and start praying again. The source of your help has never moved…God is right where He has always been. Let’s get back in the habit of looking up!
