“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” – Luke 2:7
Here we are on the most sacred night of the year. The night in which we celebrate the greatest Gift ever given to mankind…the Savior of the World. No matter how many times I read this passage, I still stand amazed at how the King of Kings came in such lowly circumstances. How the Messiah of the world did not even have a proper nursery in which to be born. There was no spacious palace prepared for His coming. There was not even a clean bed in which Mary could lay to give birth to the Son of God. Surrounded by barn animals and laid in a trough…our Savior could not have had a more lowly and humble beginning. Yet out of this humble beginning came the greatest gift ever given: the salvation of our souls!
As we celebrate this Christmas Boxing Day together…let us be reminded of the humility of Christ’s beginning on this earth. Though His birth was one of humility; His life was one of power and greatness. Even though there was no room for His birth; there is room for His life within each of us. Although no one celebrated the moment of His coming; we can celebrate the eternalness of His Salvation.
Gaze your eyes on the humility of our Savior today and celebrate “the greatest gift” ever given!
