“And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.” – Matthew 26:26 (KJV)

Having a taste of the bread of life quenches all hunger and thirst. Jesus Christ loved to meet with His disciples during His ministry on earth. On this occasion, the meeting was unique. He took bread and blessed it, broke it, and gave it to the disciples. The words that accompanied His act were awesome: He said, “Take and eat it, for this is my body.” Apparently, the ordinary bread has been turned to His body after He had blessed it, and it was vital for the disciples to eat it so that He could remain in them and become part of them.

Beloved, Jesus Christ gave Himself to all humanity so that He can remain in those who will believe in Him (John 3:16). He is the bread of life; without Him, you have no true life in you (John 6:35). True life is the life of Christ in you so that you can share in His divine nature. His body was broken for us so that any brokenness in our lives will be made whole. Any time you are taking the communion in church or at home, do it with a special meaning attached to it so that you can have the blessings therein.

Dear beloved, let someone know that without Christ he or she has no true life and could not live the divine life of God. Thus, such a person will not have the privilege of going to heaven to meet with God Almighty, the Father of all creation, our Lord Jesus Christ, and the holy saints of God. Make a difference in someone’s life by sharing the gospel with them. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!

Prayer Point: My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. You are indeed the bread of life. I’m grateful for Your coming into my life to quench all my hunger and thirst. I take the Holy Communion today with reverence and share with others that You are truly the bread of life they need to have fellowship with You, here on earth and ultimately in heaven. Amen!
