Jesus Christ is indeed the author and the finisher of our faith. His ministry on this earth was entirely governed by the Holy Spirit. He could not have done much without the anointing of the Holy Spirit in His life. The opening scripture shows us a picture of how Jesus Christ received the anointing of the Holy Spirit. He was able to fast for forty days and forty nights and overcame the devil’s temptation because of the anointing of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16–17, 4:1–11). No wonder He asked the disciples to wait for the anointing of the Holy Spirit before venturing to preach the gospel (Acts 1:4–8). The anointing of the Holy Spirit is received during the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Dear beloved, you can do much more than what you are doing now if you have the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Learn from the disciples to wait on Jesus Christ for Him to anoint you. When you desire to be anointed or baptized, you will surely receive it. Spend time getting to know the Holy Spirit and His usefulness in your life, and this will challenge you to wait on Jesus Christ for Him. The first sign of His anointing is speaking in tongues and prophesying. You will begin to experience the gifts of the Holy Spirit and revelation and will do exploits for Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! Be an overcomer!

Prayer Point: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for the promise of the Father. I wait on you today. Please baptize me with the Holy Spirit. Amen!
