But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. James 1:25 (KJV)

The power of God’s word is not in the hearing of it per say but in the doing. There is no doubt that faith comes by hearing the word, notwithstanding, faith without works (doing the word) is dead.

At the beginning of a new year many start well but not many finish the same way. Countless come up with new year’s resolutions only to resolve that they cannot achieve them. Statistics has proven that 80% of people forget about their resolution seven days after every new year.

You see, Satan does not want you to improve. He seeks to impede every attempt of yours to have a great life and that’s why he throws all kinds of things your way to stop you. But you are greater! Glory!

Sadly, what most of God’s people lack on the other hand is stickability: sticking to the word. For example, 2020 has been declared by the Holy Ghost for us as our year of Fruitfulness. How long can you stick to this word from the Holy Ghost? Will you quit very soon?

In our opening text, James cautioned us not just to be hearers of the word but doers. Many become forgetful hearers. And therefore, miss out on God’s blessings by the close of the year. You see, anytime God gives you a word, Satan will come up to attack it. Just after Jesus was baptized and God confirmed Him as His only begotten Son (Matt 3:17), the devil immediately came to attack the legitimacy and validity of Jesus’s sonship (Luke 4:3). In this year of fruitfulness, watch out for things, situations and temptations that will challenge the word God has given us.

VISION: Refuse to compromise anything for the word. Don’t be a forgetful hearer. Become fruitful. Take steps to be fruitful. Continue in the word. Be a doer of the word: that is the way of the blessing. I see you prevail against all odds. Win!

Prayer: Father I thank you for your word. I receive the grace and capacity to stick to your word. I declare that I am totally consecrated for the use of the Spirit in Jesus’s name. Amen.
