Reject The Fear

“…for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually. Job 1:5 KJV

The story of Job is a popular one. The Bible begins his story be telling us that Job was a righteous and upright man, and very wealthy and rich. He was the richest in the east (Job 1:3). But in one day he lost everything he had. He lost all his children. Job was reduced to nothing!

It’s very simply to trace his loses to Satan. Upon a cursory look, one may say Satan smite Job because God actually gave Satan the right to touch his possessions (Job 1:6). But not so; Job always incubated the fear of evil befalling him and his children. The Bible says, “When the days of their feasting were finished, Job would send for them (his children) and sanctify them; he would get up early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job thought, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s customary practice” (Job 1:5 -NET).

Somehow, Job had entertained the thought and customized himself to fear that evil may befall his children during the feast. And that’s exactly what happened. Satan’s greatest weapon against believers is fear, and the battlefield is the mind. This is why we must fortify our mind. Refuse to entertain fears of evil coming upon you. Rejects thoughts of dying young. Whatever you think constantly about is what you become.

After evil overcame him, Job admitted; “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me” (Job 3:25). Don’t be like Job. Don’t wait for your fears to come upon you.
