“It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.” – Lamentations 3:22 (KJV)
One of the blessings we always must praise God for is His mercy. Mercy is the aspect of God’s love that causes Him to help the miserable. Those who are miserable may be so either because of breaking God’s law or because of circumstances beyond their control. The good news is that everyone qualifies for the mercies of God. No wonder it is “mercies,” not “mercy,” meaning that they are in abundance for our needs.
Dear beloved, no matter how dire your situation is, you can count on His mercies. Even if you think you are the worst criminal, you are still covered by His mercies. Simply go on your knees and ask for His mercy. The sinner in Jesus Christ’s parable went before God in humility, not even looking up, and asked for mercy, and he was granted it (Luke 18:13–14).
Beloved, without the mercies of God, we would be consumed due to the numerous sins we commit. The LORD nearly consumed all the children of Israel for the sin of idolatry, but Moses intervened (Exodus 32:10–14).
Beloved, always praise God for His mercies, whether you think you deserve them or not. Let others who feel dejected know that they can count on the mercies of God. Finally, let us also show the mercies we have enjoyed from God to our fellow human beings, and the world will be a beautiful place to live. Hallelujah! Be merciful!
Prayer Point: My loving Father, thank you for your mercies upon my life and the lives of all human beings under the sun. I’m so grateful that I can always count on your mercies. Please express these mercies through me so that I can also show compassion to my fellow human beings, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
