“The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me. The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.” – 2 Timothy 1:16–18 (KJV)

Knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain makes you work expectantly without giving up. Onesiphorus and his household are typical examples of the children of God who are conscious of their reward in Christ Jesus.

Beloved, anytime people praise you for the good work you are doing for the Lord, it is a sign that you are closer to the reward of your labor. So, be alerted to pick up this signal so that it can help you to rejoice in the labor of the Lord (Philippians 4:4). Another sign to pick up when working for the Lord is the feeling of weariness or giving up; anytime you have the feeling of quitting the good work you are doing for the Lord, know that you are closer to your reward.

This one is not very conspicuous in the opening scripture; however, Apostle Paul admonished the Galatian believers that they shouldn’t grow weary in doing good because their reward was at hand (Galatians 6:9).

Beloved, God is watching closely those of His children who are working for Him and has prepared their reward to bless them in due time. Keep serving and working for the Lord in a cheerful countenance, and you will overcome the feeling of weariness till you embrace your reward (Proverbs 17:22). Hallelujah! You are an overcomer!

Prayer Point: Dear heavenly Father, thank you for giving me the secret to working for you without quitting. I take advantage of the grace and your Spirit inside of me to always maintain a cheerful countenance till I embrace my reward, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
