“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” – Proverbs 14:34 (KJV)

The righteousness of God is simply the rightness of God in the human spirit. This makes the child of God free from sin and guilt and enables him or her to live right in obedience to God. Sin, on the other hand, is the transgression of the law of God (1 John 3:4). Righteousness and sin are contrary to each other.

Beloved, righteousness exalts a nation because it is a way of showing humility and obedience to God. Therefore, God looks upon it and lifts you up, promoting you in all your ways (Matthew 23:12).

Sin, on the other hand, is an opposition to God and lives in disobedience to God. Therefore, God dislikes sin and judges it (Genesis 3:1–24). Sin leads to shame and drawbacks in the life of the sinner.

Dear beloved, it is up to you to make up your mind to choose righteousness so that you can live right and be promoted by God to continually enjoy the goodness of God. Hallelujah! You are an overcomer!

Prayer Point: My Father and my God, thank You for opening my eyes to what righteousness and sin are, and what they can do to me as well as my nation. Please make me more righteousness-conscious to always speak, act, and react in the right way, so that everyone who encounters me can be blessed in Jesus’ name. Amen!
