“And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” – Matthew 22:39 (KJV)
Having a good worldview about your neighbor makes it easy to accommodate them. The world defines a neighbor as a person living next door to or very near to the speaker or person referred to. However, in the Kingdom of God, a neighbor is a person who needs our help, and we offer them a helping hand.
Dear beloved, how do you see your neighbor? Your perception of your neighbor can either have a positive or negative effect of how you relate with them. They could be living next to your house, but they could also be strangers to you because you don’t love them or show any affection to them.
Jesus Christ, being a good master, share a parable about who a true neighbor is: A certain man was hurt and injured by robbers whiles traveling to Jericho. A priest bypassed him and likewise a Levite, but a good Samaritan offered the injured man a helping hand (Luke 10:29–37). Thus, the Samaritan became a true neighbor to the injured man who needed help.
Beloved, everybody needs somebody one way or another; therefore, let us walk in wisdom and love in order to be a blessing to everyone, especially the vulnerable in society, and God will keep using us and making us a blessing. Hallelujah! Be a true neighbor!
Prayer Point: Dear heavenly Father, thank you for giving me your Word today. Please stir up the bowels of love and mercy in me so that I can be a good neighbor to people who need my help or assistance, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
