Our Lord Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and we are the body. There is one beautiful thing about the resurrection and ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ. When He ascended into heaven, He gave spiritual gifts to His saints to see to the continuity of propagating the gospel and blessing the lives of human beings (Ephesians 4:8). He also set up spiritual offices such as apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, and teacher to train and supervise the use of the spiritual gifts (Ephesians 4:11–12).

It is vital for the children of God to know their gifts and the ministry into which they have been called to use these gifts to the glory of God. Others know their gifts and calling but are not in line with their calling. They have strayed into doing something else; for example, if they were in the apostolic office, they have neglected it by doing the work of a prophet without Jesus Christ’s approval. Others, having the gift of interpretation of tongues, have neglected this gift for word of knowledge without the approval of Christ.

Dear beloved, let us learn from John the Baptist, who remained in his calling by baptizing people to repentance and asking them to seek Jesus Christ to baptize them in the Holy Spirit. Beloved, there is nothing wrong with desiring more spiritual gifts, but make sure you are using your gifts until then. Then when Jesus has added onto your gifts or is leading you into another gift, you will be blessed instead of being frustrated. Hallelujah! Use your gifts!

Prayer Point: Dear Holy Spirit, please lead me to use my spiritual gift without neglecting it so that I can be a blessing to many lives, especially those in the church, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
