“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5

No matter how many times I read this verse, I continue to be amazed at the great love Jesus has for us. When you stop and realize that He was under no obligation to go through the physical and spiritual suffering He endured…but He did it willingly for you and me.

He endured the wounds so our transgressions would be blotted out. He withstood the chastisement of whips so you and I could live in complete peace. He allowed the Roman scourging to dig deep into His back so you could live in physical and emotional health. He did it not because we deserved it; He did it because He loved us.

Dear friends, there is no greater message that we need in this hour of turmoil and strife than the message that Jesus loved us enough to do what He did so we could be redeemed. I pray you will take some time today to reflect on this great love from Him and worship Him for it.

Do not ever take for granted what Jesus has endured for your salvation and healing. Rather live each day in gratitude and thankfulness for He did for you; not because He had to but rather because He wanted to!

Action Point: lord give me heart to love you more. Amen
