“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” – Proverbs 13:20 (KJV)

Choosing good companions is the beginning of living in wisdom and becoming blessed. Beloved, human beings are social animals and hence seek to walk in groups. It becomes rather strange to find a person who has neither friends nor relatives and lives a lonely life.

The opening scripture wants the children of God to be wise at making friends; this is not just any kind of friend. It encourages them to choose wise friends: friends who are God-fearing, industrious, humble, kind, and love the fellowship of the brethren (Ephesians 4:32).

Beloved, when you are with such friends, you will grow wiser and become a useful vessel in the hands of God. On the other hand, choosing friends who take God for granted, are lazy, and have no value for the things of God will only lead you to harm and destruction, because you will become a tool in the devil’s hands. Do not forget that he comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10).

Dear beloved, choose to walk with the wise and be wise, for iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). Praise the Lord! God bless you!

Prayer Point: Dear Abba Father, thank You for the admonition to choose good companions. Indeed, iron sharpens iron. Please lead and guide me to choose good friends who will help me make wise choices, who will be devoted to Your service and that of humanity in Jesus’ name. Amen!
