“For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12 (KJV)
Knowing that working is God’s idea and desire makes us avail ourselves to fulfill His desire. The God whom we serve works every day, even when we are sleeping (John 5:17). He never sleeps nor slumbers because He is God (Psalm 121:4). Thus, He instituted work for mankind to work to sustain themselves, the lives of other human beings, and living creatures on the earth (Genesis 2:15).
Dear beloved, are you refusing to work? Refusing to work, except for reasons such as sickness, infirmities, old age, and incapacitation, breaks the Word of God. We see Apostle Paul commanding his converts to work, and he gave a rule that anyone who did not work shouldn’t eat.
Beloved, breaking the Word of God concerning working opens us up to evil, and we become busybodies, meddling in other people’s business. Furthermore, our lives lose order, and we do whatever we can find to do. God is organized and disciplined, so He wants us to exhibit the same character traits to show to the world that we are truly His children.
Beloved, avail yourself to training, and build your skills even if it means going back to school in order to be equipped to create a business for yourself, or work as an employee to earn income to support yourself, your family, and others who may be in need, and God will be pleased to partner with you. Hallelujah! God bless you!
Prayer Point: My dear Father, thank you for blessing me today with your Word. Please help me to eschew laziness and excuses and to instead work diligently to earn income to support myself, my family, the gospel, and the less privileged and vulnerable in society, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
