“I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, it is more blessed to give than to receive.” – Acts 20:33-35 (KJV)

Every child of God is called to live an exemplary life; this will encourage the world to seek solutions in the church. Apostle Paul was a man who showed exemplary leadership; he did not covet the wealth of his converts but worked with his hands as a tentmaker to even support others (Acts 18:3).

Beloved, we live in a world where some people carry themselves as men of God only to exploit, trick, and use the Bible for their own selfish interests. As a child of God, when you are called by God to lead His people as a pastor, learn a profession in addition to your calling. This will guard you against being misled into coveting the riches of your converts.

Jesus Christ, before He started His ministry, was a carpenter, and He used that insight to bring people together to minister to them (Mark 6:3). Do not rush into the calling or ministry of God and find yourself becoming a wrong example that deters people from coming to Jesus Christ.

Beloved, learn from Apostle Paul and the other Apostles, who had professions before entering the ministry of our Lord Jesus. No wonder they brought their expertise together to enhance the ministry into which they were called to the glory of God. Praise the Lord! Be an overcomer!

Prayer Point: My gracious Father, you are more than enough for me. Thank You for giving me insight into ministry. Please help me develop my profession and use it to promote the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ and my calling. Amen!
