“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” James 1:12 (KJV)

Temptation comes from the devil, and he lures people to sin and rebel against God. We must understand that being tempted is not sin but conforming to temptation produces sin. There are countless blessings in store for us in God, some of which are only reserved for those who endure or pass temptation. Thus, a Christian who doesn’t want to be tempted will never receive the blessing reserved for those who pass temptation. It must be added that whether we like it or not, we will be tempted, so we must make up our mind to endure and overcome temptation. A crown of life is the reward for enduring and overcoming temptation.

Dear beloved, in order to endure and overcome temptation, you must depend on the Word of God. Use the Word of God and speak it forth anytime you are being tempted. Remember that Jesus Christ continually spoke the Word to defeat the devil when he tempted Him (Matthew 4:4–11). Learn from the Lord to always use the Word when you are tempted, and you will win. Hallelujah! Be an overcomer!

Prayer Point: Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your Word and the grace that you have made available for me to endure and overcome temptation. Amen!
